Persian Nestalik, copied in roughly traced color frames, copied by a certain Kotb ed-Din خطب الدين ibn Ghaffar, in the medrese of Akmeǧed اقميجد (the white mosque) and the medrese of ʿAbd Allah Efendi, dated Thursday the fifteenth day of the month of Ǧoumada second, by which we must understand, what the rest of the colophon shows, that he worked there on the 15th, 16th and 17th of this month of Ǧoumada second of the year 1231 of the hegira (13-15 April 1816).. The last date cited there being that of the year 456 of the hegira (1064), in which an epizootic stopped a conflict between the people of Shirvan and those of Derbend. This mediocre work was composed at the instigation of the prince of Dagestan, Čoban Beg; it was first written in Persian, according to Arab and Persian chronicles, then translated into Turkish. This manuscript was given to the King's Library in January 1821 by Mr. Steven, state advisor to the Emperor of Russia. Western binding, in calfskin.
