A Persian bayt is calligraphed on f. 138 The anonymous copy of No. I was completed (f. 108) in the month of Rabīʿ I, 1036H. That of No. II, in another hand, probably later, is neither dated nor signed. No. I is in Persian Nastaʿlīq of 17 lines per page, with titles rubriced in Nasẖī and advertisements. No. II would be in Ottoman Nasẖī of 17 lines, with rubric titles and advertisements. Written surface (nos I and II) 110 × 190 mm. Ms. of 180 × 290.. Work divided into 55 bāb and preceded (f. 110v-113v) by a preface. This ms. belonged to Huibert Vissnich (d. 1630), ambassador of the Dutch East India Company (V.O.C.) to the Šāh of Persia and it bears, in f. 138v, his signature accompanied by the mention “1626 in Spahan” and text no. I could have been copied for him in Isfahan in 1626. In f. 36v a note in his hand indicates the income of Isfahan in 1626, 2360 Tomans. The volume then formed part of M. Thévenot's library (n° 144) and the marginal annotations of f. 19, 20, 20v, etc. could be in his hand, like foliotation 1-105 of No. I, which he would have collated with the current ms. Persian 127. A Latin notice by Renaudot appears in the v° of the 2nd guard and a notice signed by Armain (n° 297) in the v° of the 3rd.. Persian (?) cover binding (restored) in red-brown morocco bordered with a repeated “S” iron and painted gilt fillets. The lining, in black-brown morocco, is bordered with a painted gold fillet.
