Pl. II, B Pl. XVI, B Text with diacritics in ink; the vocalization is in red, the orthoepic signs in blue with the exception of the hamza marked by a yellow dot. Golden trefoil decorations enhanced with red and blue dots separate the verses. A golden Kufic hā ʾ marks the groups of five verses; a rosette indicates those of ten. At the head of each surah are its title and the number of its verses in golden “Kufic” characters; a circular sticker accompanies this indication. On the first double page of text, the S. I and the beginning of the S. II are preceded by a banner to which corresponds, in the margin, a circular vignette (ff° 2 v° and 3 r°). The full-page decorations were moved during the restoration of the volume; opposite f° 2 r° was placed the leaflet currently placed at the end of the volume (f° 196 v°): square decoration composed of superimposed crosses drawn by white lines 1 (1. This arrangement closely evokes that of Arabe 385, notice 296, f° 129 v°.) inside a frame formed by a braided band. The other decoration - undoubtedly originally at the end of the volume - offers a star arrangement (f° 1 r°) 2 (2. We will compare this motif with that of the London Koran British Library Or. 1405, ff° 370 v°-371 r°, cf. M. LINGS, Quranic art, pl. 109.). Both of these settings were accompanied by a middle vignette. The text is placed in a linear blue and red frame; several important passages were written in golden ṯuluṯ characters (for example the beginning of the Throne verse, f° 50 v°; cf. also ff° 28 r°, 33 r°, 60 v°, 115 v° and 186 v°). The indications of divisions in ḥizb are placed in the center of circles with changing decoration; the quarters and halves of ḥizb are indicated in the margin in golden “Kufic” characters.
