Notes
A precious antique copy, slightly incomplete from the beginning, corresponding to the original from which it was copied, as stated in the corresponding symbols and corrections placed in its footnotes in the copyist’s own hand. At the end of it came a corresponding restriction, which reads: “He reached an interview on his compilation according to his draft, praise be to God.” This means that it was written during the lifetime of the author. The text in it was written in black, tangy, dark viscous ink in general, and the copyist used red ink to write the proper names and the three Arabic verses between the verses of poetry. And marking on some words during the text, etc., on an Eastern-style scribe of Levantine origin, in which the narrow, primitive watercolor lines appear that later seeped into European scribes in general. The mouse infested its sides severely, which led to the loss of parts of the text, especially at the end. The leaves fell between folios 162-177 and were added in a different script, and on a kerchief dating back to the twelfth century AH, at the end of which the restriction appears. The following: “Praise be to God and prayers and peace be upon Muhammad, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. Qiblah (accepted?) These pamphlets are from the Hanbali classes (...) Brother Ibrahim Al Mandil, and I am the one in need of God, Abdul Karim bin Fawzan bin Zaid bin Turki bin Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ibrahim... and that is in the year 1285.” At the end of it also appears a sale restriction, and this is the text of it: “Praise be to God. Its writer, Musa al-Sarkhadi, may God be gracious to him, says: I asked God Almighty for help and sold it.” This book, which is Al-Tabaqat by the Hanbalis, may God increase them, was compiled by Al-Alimi Al-Maqdisi, may God have mercy on him, and it is two parts. This and the one after it is by Sheikh Al-Allamah Taqi Al-Din Abu Bakr Al-Dabbah, may God Almighty honor him, for a price of two hundred Uthmani held in my hand, and this is my handwriting as a witness against me, and God is the agent of what we say, and that was on the second of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the year 959 AH.
