Notes
29.7 x 20.7 cm. The beginning of the manuscript: Encouragement to say words that the debtor, the anxious, the distressed, and the captive say on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, that a muqatabi came and said, “I have been unable to write to you.” I mean, he said, “Should I not teach you words that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, taught me? If you had a debt like a large mountain...wetness and wetness.” Transcribed by: Ali bin Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Shafi’i. End of the manuscript: Ibn Lahi’ah, whose name is Abdullah, came forward. This blessed dictation has been completed, so praise be to God for what He has bestowed. May God’s blessings be upon the most honorable of His creation and the highest in status with Him and upon His family, companions, wives, and descendants who follow them in righteousness until the Day of Judgment whenever those who remember mention it and those who are heedless neglect to mention it. This is the second part of the version whose first part was preceded by the number (354). The copy is a treasure trove, the title page is gilded, the biographies of the chapters and the headings of the paragraphs are written in red ink. The first and last pages of the copy are tabulated with a gilded double tab. It begins with hadiths of encouragement in words spoken by the debtor, the anxious, the distressed, and the imprisoned, and ends at the end of the book. It has the same apparent meaning as the first part, such as corrections, interviews, and proof of differences. At the end, he recorded the completion of the interview in the handwriting of Ibrahim bin Ali Al-Abnasi, dated 872 AH, in which he explained that he compared this copy in three copies, one of which was the copy of Shihab al-Din Ahmad, known as Al-Qassas. At the end of it is a reading by Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, and this Shihab al-Din is a translator in al-Dhu` al-Lami’ 215/2, and he mentioned that he read al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib by al-Hafiz ibn Hajar, and the second copy is opposite, with the end being written by Uthman al-Dimi.
