Notes The book Al-Umda fi Ahkam transmitted from Khair Al-Anam by Abdul-Ghani Al-Jami’i Lee and explained by Ismail bin Ahmad bin Al-Atheer Al-Halabi, who died in the year 699 AH. Ibn Daqiq Al-Eid, who died in the year 702 AH, included this explanation in his explanation of Al-Umda, and explanations and footnotes continued on Al-Umda from what Brockelmann mentioned in 1/356, and his appendix 1/605, and this explanation is an abstraction of what Ibn Daqiq Al-Eid made, and he mentioned Zubara in the appendix to Al-Badr Al-Tali’ 158: Ali bin Ahmad Al-Shadhi, who is the father of Muhammad, has a commentary on Al-Umdah, so perhaps this is what Brockelmann did not mention the explanation of the father or the abstraction of the son. Despite this, our copy is a good and complete copy and is identical to the original from which it was copied, as appears in the scanty corrections of the interview recorded in its footnotes. The text in it was written in generally dark watery tan-brown ink, and the copyist used red, blue, yellow, and green ink in writing the books, their titles, and the chapters. Its titles, the Prophetic hadiths, their degrees in documentation, some beginnings of poverty, issues, and so on, in the weak Thuluth script, on a rough, brown Italian-made emblem, in which parallel lines appear and the distinctive commercial watermark, which is in the form of a shield and inside of which is a crescent with a human face, in addition to an inscription in Arabic, “White Abu Shabak Istambouli, High, Authentic,” inside single tables of primitive drawing and colored with red. Some of its footnotes contain a number of comments, explanations, and corrections, and at the beginning it says: “Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, this volume is one of the blessings of God Almighty upon His servant Ahmad bin Abdul-Wasi bin Yahya Al-Wasi’i [...] Shawwal 23, 1354 AH.” However, the copy is dated in the year 1355 AH, so how could this be?! And on the title page in the copyist’s handwriting: “It was completed in the last ten days of Safar in the year 819 in the Emir’s House Mosque in Sana’a, quoted from the footnote of Al-Kashshaf.” The question is: Who did the son and father finish with? And after that came what it said: “It is a summary of the explanation of the scholar... famous for Ibn Daqiq al-Eid on the text of Umdat al-Ahkam by the scholar al-Halabi, and to it was added, may God have mercy on him, the doctrine of the Prophet’s family, peace be upon them, which is the approved doctrine of the Zaidis.”
