The twenty-first from Umdat Al-Qari in Al-Bukhari’s explanation, with which the explanation was completed, with the grace, help, kindness, and generosity of God, at the end of the first third of the night of Saturday, the fifth of the month of Jumada Al-Awwal, in the year forty-seven. Eight hundred years after the Prophet’s migration, and I began writing it at the end of the month of Rajab al-Asab in the year eight hundred and twenty, and I finished the first part on Monday the sixteenth of the holy month of Dhul-Hijjah in the year eight hundred and twenty, and I finished the second part on Tuesday the seventh of the month of Jumada al-Akhira in the year eight hundred and twenty-one, and I finished the third part on Friday the eighth of Jumada al-Awwal in the year eight hundred and thirty-three, after I had stayed in it for half a year, and there was an absence between the second. The third was sixteen years or more, and I finished the fourth on Tuesday, the ninth of Rabi’ al-Akhir in the year eight hundred and thirty-nine. Then I continued writing and composing until the aforementioned date of the twenty-first, and the period of my time in writing was ten years, with many days interspersed within it. Praise be to God Almighty for this blessing.)
Sample Text The beginning of the manuscript: (Chapter on the skins of dead animals before they are tanned) That is: This is a chapter explaining the ruling on the skins of dead animals before they are tanned. Is it valid to sell them or not? We will clarify in the hadith that it is permissible to sell it. P.: Zuhair bin Harb told us, Ya’qub bin Ibrahim told us, my father told us, on the authority of Salih, he said: Ibn Shihab told me: Ubaid Allah bin Abdullah told him; Abdullah bin Abbas told him that the Messenger of God passed by a dead sheep, and he said: Would you benefit from its fear? They said: She is dead. He said: It is forbidden to eat it. Sh. Its consistency with the translation is taken from his saying: Would you benefit from its fear? Because it indicates that benefit is made from the skin of a dead animal, and benefit from something other than eating, and other than eating is more general than selling or anything else, and its apparent meaning is that it is permissible to benefit from it whether it is tanned or not, and it is the doctrine of Al-Zuhri, and Al-Bukhari also chose this doctrine, and with what we have mentioned, the objection of those who He responds to him; That there is no mention of selling in the hadith that he cited, and the hadith also clarifies the ambiguity in the translation... ... Conclusion of the manuscript: ... On the authority of Saeed bin Al-Musayyab, he said: Muawiyah came to Medina and addressed us, and he took out a hair ball and said: I did not see anyone doing that except the Jews. The Messenger of God conveyed this message, but he called it falsehood. Muslim said: A man came with a stick with a rag on its head. Muawiyah said: This is falsehood. Qatada said: It means: women do not wear their hair in rags, and God, Glory be to Him, the Most High, knows best what is right, and to Him is the return and the return. The blessed part was completed with the praise and help of God Almighty.
