The twenty-first from Umdat Al-Qari in Al-Bukhari’s explanation, with which the explanation was completed, with the grace, help, kindness, and generosity of God, at the end of the first third of the night of Saturday, the fifth of the month of Jumada Al-Awwal, in the year forty-seven. Eight hundred years after the Prophet’s migration, and I began writing it at the end of the month of Rajab al-Asab in the year eight hundred and twenty, and I finished the first part on Monday the sixteenth of the holy month of Dhul-Hijjah in the year eight hundred and twenty, and I finished the second part on Tuesday the seventh of the month of Jumada al-Akhira in the year eight hundred and twenty-one, and I finished the third part on Friday the eighth of Jumada al-Awwal in the year eight hundred and thirty-three, after I had stayed in it for half a year, and there was an absence between the second. The third was sixteen years or more, and I finished the fourth on Tuesday, the ninth of Rabi’ al-Akhir in the year eight hundred and thirty-nine. Then I continued writing and composing until the aforementioned date of the twenty-first, and the period of my time in writing was ten years, with many days interspersed within it. Sample Text
The beginning of the manuscript: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family, and his companions (Chapter: What was mentioned in the direction of the Qiblah, and he did not consider repeating it to one who made a mistake, so he prayed facing other than the Qiblah). That is: This is a chapter in explaining what was mentioned in the matter of the Qiblah, and it is contrary to what was presented before this chapter, for that is in the ruling on facing the Qiblah, and this is in The ruling on someone who made a mistake and prayed facing other than the qiblah. He referred to the ruling on this by saying: And he who did not decide to repeat it, etc. This is a section in which there is disagreement, which is: If a man strives to find the qiblah and prays to another direction, should he repeat it or not?... ... Conclusion of the manuscript: ... The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, passed by a Jewess. Hadith. Abdullah bin Abi Bakr bin Muhammad bin Amr bin Hazm passed by more than once, and Amra bint Abdul Rahman Al Ansariya as well. Ibn Umar added: When Rafi’ died, he said to them: Do not cry over him, for a living person crying over a dead person is a torment for the dead person. Amra said: So I asked Aisha about that? She said: May God have mercy on him, he just passed by and mentioned the hadith. Rafi’: He is Ibn Khadij bin Rafi’ bin Adi Al-Awsi Al-Harithi Abu Abdullah. It was said: Abu Saleh was despised on the day of Badr, and he witnessed Uhud, and he was struck by an arrow that day. The part was completed with His praise, help, and good success. There is no power or strength except in God, the Most High, the Great. It is followed in the next part: (Chapter on what is disliked about wailing) by God’s will and power.
