The manuscript's physical condition: a good copy, except that dirt and moisture have ravaged its leaves. #Notes and Comments: The copyist wrote its text generally in black ink, and he also used red and black ink in writing the titles and chapters, and wrote the word ((saying)) in black ink on the first pages, and in red ink on the later ones, on a newly made ink. On the title page there is a seal ((Abdul Qadir 1139)) and a seal ((...Hassan dated 1244 AH)). (Praise be to God who has bestowed upon us the great and the minute blessings...) As for what follows, the science of hadith after the Qur’an is the best and highest of sciences and the most sublime and best of knowledge. Through it one knows what God Almighty intends and who can reveal the purposes of His rulings, because the Qur’an’s rulings are great, rather they are all universals and the sciences from it are nothing but general matters such as the Almighty’s saying: [Establish prayer and pay zakat]... and the permissibility of speaking to a wife without her name in order to remove loneliness and sweeten her heart. And the permissibility of saving food, and swearing oaths to anyone other than God Almighty, and making the host feel compassion for himself in honor... and striving to ward off loneliness and sweeten their hearts, and the permissibility of saving food (and refraining from) swearing if he sees something else that is better than it, and that the narrator, if he is in doubt, should draw attention to it, as he said, “No.....
