This version represents the first part and ends with the chapter on anointing for Friday prayers, followed in the next part by the chapter on wearing the best he can find. | The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

The two well-established sheikhs Shihab al-Din Abu al-Abbas Ahmad ibn Abi Talib told us... Al-Hajjar al-Salihi... the six ministers, Umm Muhammad Wazira, the daughter of Sheikh... Omar ibn al-Qadi Wajih al-Din Asaad ibn... al-Tanukhi al-Dimashqian, a reading of them, and I heard of the Mansouriya school in the line between al-Qasrain in Cairo al-Mu’aziyah in Jumada al-Awwal of the month of... seventeen hundred and fifteen. They said, “Abu al-Zubaidi told us... Abu al-Waqq told us... the Imam informed you... Abu al-Hussein Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn Al-Muzaffar... Al-Dawoodi... Imam Al-Farbari told us in February in the year three hundred and sixteen. Imam Al-Bukhari told us in February in the year two hundred and forty-eight and once in the year fifty-two. He said in the chapter on how the revelation began to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him... ...... Chapter on anointing for the Friday prayer, Adam told us, Ibn Abi Dhi’b told us, on the authority of Saeed Al-Maqbari, my father told me on the authority of Wadi’ah, on the authority of Salman Al-Farisi, he said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: A man should not wash himself on Friday and purify himself as much as he can of purification. He applies some of his oil or touches some of his household perfume, then goes out, not separating between two people. Then he prays what is written for him, then listens when the imam speaks, but he will be forgiven for what comes between him and the next Friday... Ibrahim bin Maysara told me on the authority of Tawoos on the authority of Ibn Abbas that he mentioned what the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said about washing on Friday, so I said to Ibn Abbas: Is there any perfume or oil if his family has it? He said: I don't know him. At the end of the first part of Al-Bukhari, it is followed by... Chapter on wearing the best he can find. Thank God alone...
