Notes The physical condition of the manuscript is very good. #Unknown and includes readings by some Timbuktu scholars. | The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.
Sample Text After the basmala and the hamdala: Chapter on the words of God Almighty: [And We have enjoined upon man to be faithful to his parents]: Abu Al-Walid told us Shu’bah. Al-Walid bin Abdul ( ) told me.. He said: I heard Abu Amr Al-Shaybani say, “I am the owner of this house.” He gestured with his hand to the house of Abdullah. He said, “I asked the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, which work is most beloved to God Almighty. He said: ((Praying at its appointed time))” He said: Then which? He said: ((Honoring parents)) He said then what? He said: ((Jihad for the sake of God)) He told me about them, and if I had asked him more, it would have increased for me... Ahmad ibn Ashkab told us, Muhammad ibn Fadl, on the authority of Amara ibn al-Qaqa’, on the authority of Abu Zur’ah, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: ((Two words beloved to the Most Merciful, heavy in the scale: Glory be to God and praise be to Him, Glory be to God the Great)) Complete with praise to God Almighty and His good help and success, Ahmed ibn narrated to us. Ashkab on the authority of Muhammad bin Fadl, on the authority of Amara bin Al-Qaqa’, on the authority of Abu Zur’ah, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: ((Two words beloved to the Most Merciful and heavy in the scale: Glory be to God and praise be to Him, Glory be to God the Great)) Complete with thanks to God Almighty and His good help and success.
