The issue of plagiarism in pre-Islamic poetry casts doubt on the literary and linguistic heritage of the relevant period. It can be noted that the subject is important in this respect. The pre-Islamic period forms the basis for the determination of the Arabic language and syntax rules. For this reason, literary texts from the period are frequently used in the construction of various Arabic linguistics such as syntax, grammar and rhetoric. Denying pre-Islamic poetry and questioning it in whole or in part is not only a criticism of the poetic and literary productions of the poets of this period, but also a linguistic skepticism that questions the lexical, semantic and syntactic roots of Arabic. This skepticism poses a clear threat to the efforts of tafsir scholars, who are accustomed to interpreting the Holy Quran by quoting from pre-Islamic poetry, regardless of their approach and sect. Because, the primary sources used to explain the meanings of the words of the Quran and to interpret its verses are pre-Islamic poetry and compilations of this poetry. Divans, which immortalize this rare linguistic heritage, have been preserved between the lines of books throughout history. As discussed in the last section of the article, the fact that commentators rely on pre-Islamic poems in their interpretations is an obvious fact that does not require much evidence or inference. A researcher working on this subject only needs to look at the tafsir books and the vocabulary of the Quran. In these works, it is seen that the verses are interpreted by quoting from pre-Islamic poems. Poems written before Islam also constituted an important source in the creation of dictionary materials. Questioning the bases used by commentators while interpreting the Holy Quran, the main source of religion, should not only be evaluated in terms of the Arabic language, but also causes the judgments of commentators to say in the name of religion to be questioned. This reveals the importance of a linguistic approach that creates a point of consensus for all commentators. There is no doubt that there is plagiarism and forgery in pre-Islamic poetry; However, accepting this fact does not mean ignoring the entire literature. As a matter of fact, there are many reliable poems that have survived to this day. These were verified and conveyed by narrators and carried down to the present day through different works. We can mention the poems of al-Mufaddal al-Dabbi, al-Asma'i and Abu Amr Ibn al-Ala as examples of this. From time to time, there may be doubts about the accuracy of the poems quoted by narrators, and there may even be plagiarized poems among the poems. However, these are issues that can be detected with correct research techniques. Therefore, based on this, it is not a scientific approach to question all pre-Islamic poems and to cast doubt on them. Moreover, such skeptical approaches are not limited only to pre-Islamic poetry but can also be valid for all historical information. In line with the above, this study, which deals with the issue of plagiarism, consists of an introduction, five chapters and a conclusion. In the introduction, various aspects such as the historical dimension of the phenomenon of plagiarism in literature, its prevalence, and its impact on literary and linguistic resources are discussed. In the first part, the history of the subject according to old literary critics is examined. In the second part, the development of these approaches in the modern age and the suggestions offered by names such as Margoliouth and Taha Hüseyin, one of the Arab thinkers who followed him, were examined. The thoughts and criticisms of Mustafa Sadık El-Rafi'i and Mahmud Şakir about the issue of plagiarism in pre-Islamic poetry and the issues that arose as a result were tried to be determined. It is important that Şakir draws attention to these issues, especially in the valuable foreword he wrote to al-Mutenebbi's divan. Mahmud Şakir is also one of the names familiar with the pre-Islamic poetry theory of the period, as a student of Taha Hüseyin. Nasıreddin Esad discussed these issues in detail in his work called Masadir el-Şiir el-Jahili, and Şevki Daif discussed these issues in detail in his book "Tarih el-Edep el-Arabi". The third chapter is devoted to the reasons for plagiarism between the past and the present and the differences between mutakaddimun and mutahirun. In the fourth section, the evidence of those who claim plagiarism is discussed. The fifth chapter examines the effects of plagiarism on the efforts of Quran commentators and scholars who interpret the Sunnah of the Prophet. This article is a serious attempt by the researcher to describe the characteristics of the issue of plagiarism in pre-Islamic poetry and the historical continuity of this issue from past to present. At the same time, evaluations on this subject are not limited to pre-Islamic poetry, but extend to the Arabic language, the Holy Quran, the method of interpretation of Arabic texts in general, the origins of syntax, rules and evidence. The characteristics of the plagiarism theory among past and contemporary scholars such as Muhammad Ibn Salam al-Jumahi and the approaches of Margoliouth, the most prominent modern representative of this theory, are discussed. Afterwards, the views of Mustafa Sâdık el-Râfi'î, Taha Hüseyin and other contemporary scholars were discussed respectively; Details of the words, reasons and results on which these views are based have been examined. In this article, where the importance of the poems written before Islam is emphasized and the views of Margoliouth and Taha Hüseyin are criticized, it has been concluded that most of the poems from the relevant period are scientifically reliable. In addition, after the mentioned figures, many studies have been carried out in the academic field on the pre-Islamic period, and in these studies, the writing style of poetry, dialect, etc. It should be noted that its relationship with the period is revealed based on the information.
