Notes
The claim that Ibn Khaldun put forward a theory of history and a theory of politics that legitimized the power of his time characterizes the final basis on which the article is built. In Haldun, a reading style that deals only with what is and has an emphasis on the empirical side comes to the fore. This kind of science-making perspective includes political messages compatible with its acceptances. Namely, by dealing with society and history in a positivistic way, Ibn Khaldun took on a role very similar to what the positivists tried to do in modern times, serving an instrumental imagination that put science in the service of power. While explaining this imagination, two important details can be underlined: First of all, we can say that the philosopher's way of using reason as an analytical tool is quite class-based. The distinctive meaning that Ibn Khaldun attributed to logic made the writing of history in line with the interests and expectations of the upper classes quite legitimate.
