Notes Madrasa and academy can be defined as structures known as educational institutions and established for different purposes in different periods. Madrasahs are educational institutions where Islamic religious knowledge is taught unofficially. Madrassas, which have an important place in Islamic civilization, were generally built attached to mosques or masjids. In madrasahs, education is given in fields such as Islamic religion, fiqh, hadith, tafsir and kalam. The duration of education in madrasahs varies between 5-10 years on average and is generally for male students. Since the sciences that madrasahs want to teach are Islamic sciences, the language they use in education is Arabic. Theological academic studies are institutions that are officially recognized by the state and continue education and training, and cover various subjects. These include areas such as interpretation of religious texts, philosophical and theological analysis of religions, history of religions and their effects on society, examination of religious rituals and practices, and social and political effects of religious ideas. In addition, today theological academy studies have an even broader perspective. It explains the relationship between religion and society, religious freedoms, gender and religion with contemporary interpretations. In fact, academic studies of theology both examine religious content and adopt an interdisciplinary approach to understand the social and cultural effects of religion. These studies are concluded in the form of academic publications, articles and books. Additionally, theological scholars attend conferences, seminars, and discussions to specialize in their fields and share their research. Today, academic studies of theology is a multidisciplinary discipline that aims to contribute to the development of religious knowledge and understanding, while also aiming to understand the effects of religion on society. It allows people to understand and more deeply examine religions and the diversity of religious thought. Today, madrasahs and academies continue their existence in different forms. While madrassas mostly operate as religious educational institutions in Islamic countries, academies are named after higher education institutions known as modern universities. They are universities that represent the academy and provide undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education in various scientific fields. Academies are also used as institutions where scientific research is conducted and scientific meetings are held. The main reason for comparing Madrasah and Theological Institutions is their rapprochement and the positive methodology and scientific contributions they will make to each other. At the same time, the aim is to understand and live the religion of Islam in a healthy way. Because the religion of Islam encourages people to engage in science to research and discover all kinds of knowledge. Islam's understanding of teaching and education encourages every Muslim to progress on the path of knowledge and envisages the combination of knowledge with faith. It aims for people to understand the purpose of creation, to acquire the knowledge necessary for their life in this world and the hereafter, and to be useful to society by putting these into practice. In this sense, Islam's understanding of teaching and education is stated in the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad. It is possible to base it on the verses and hadiths found in Muhammad's words and practice. The diversity and breadth of Islamic sciences can be understood from the history of Muslims working hard on many subjects that they discovered and developed. Among the Islamic sciences, sciences such as tafsir, hadith, fiqh, ethics, kalam, mysticism and history are the main subjects. Individual and social education is important in the Islamic understanding of teaching and education. Individual education involves every Muslim improving himself and increasing his knowledge. This method of education has been used by Daru'l-Erkam b. since the advent of Islam. It is also applied in Erkam and Suffa. According to Islam, every Muslim should constantly engage in science by improving his eternal knowledge and knowledge day by day. Social education, on the other hand, should start from the process of teaching and explaining the basic principles of Islam to all members of the society. Islamic societies have educational programs and institutions for children, youth and adults. Places such as madrasah education, Quran courses, Islamic universities and research centers, which have existed for a long time, are examples of these educational activities. In Islamic societies, knowledge is not limited to a formal education process such as going to a madrasah or mosque. Since such educational venues are private, every Muslim can benefit from them. Therefore, it becomes inevitable to develop the madrasah and equip it with some new educational programs. Madrasas and academy can be defined as educational institutions known as schools that were established for different purposes in different periods. Madrasas are non-formal educational institutions where Islamic religious knowledge is taught. Madrasas, which holds an important place in Islamic civilization, are generally built in connection with mosques or prayer rooms. Education in madrasas is provided in areas related to the Islamic religion, such as fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad), tafsir (interpretation of the Quran), and kalam (Islamic theology). The duration of education in madrasas varies between 5-10 years on average and is generally aimed at male students.
