Notes The epistemic and theological framework built by sects throughout history offers its members a certain perception of religion and the world. This affects all their activities, both scientific and social. One of the scientific pursuits in which sectarian affiliation is effective is tafsir. However, exegetical activity often emerges as a product of the social framework and the place where the exegete stands within this framework. The phenomenon of sect is one of the most dominant factors at this point. Because it serves as an important framework that shapes Muslims' interpretations of verses and their perception of the Quran. Members of the sect often resort to justifying their views with the Quran on many issues, even if they do not have a religious content and are essentially the product of sociopolitical competition. In this context, texts can be reconstructed by the members of the sect in a way that justifies the aims of the sect, and they can be subjected to different interpretations based on the sect's understanding of religion. Tafsir, kalam and fiqh books are full of dozens of verses and hadith interpretations in this manner. The same verse and hadith could be presented to members of different sects with very different interpretations. The structure of the Qur'anic language, which is suitable for justifying some beliefs in line with sectarian affiliation, has made the job of the sect members easier. This article has tried to concretize the mentioned abstract issues through different interpretations of some verses that are directly or indirectly associated with rec'at. In this context, the comments of Imami and Sunni scholars were selected as examples, and it was analyzed how the same verse could be subject to different interpretations due to the influence of sect affiliation. Ayyâşî, Ebü'l-Hasan el-Kummî, Ebû Cafer et-Tûsî, Ebû Ali et-Tabersî, Şeyh Sadûk and Şeyh Müfîd are the Imami scholars whose comments on raj'at are focused on. Comments of Ebû Mansur el-Mâtürîdî and Fahreddin er-Râzî from Ahl al-Sunnah were analyzed. The fact that the number of Sunni scholars who criticize the Imamiyya on the subject of Rec'at based on the verses is very small has led us to focus on the comments of these two scholars. However, we tried to identify the comments of a small number of other scholars who expressed their opinions on this subject and to present a more holistic picture on this subject. In order not to push the limits of the size of an article, we limited the subject only to the first scholars who expressed their opinions on this subject. It has been observed that Imami and Sunni scholars resorted to various methods in order to bring evidence from the Quran for their raj'at beliefs, such as "associating verses with other verses that support the view of their sects, establishing absolute identity between the past and the present through hadiths whose authenticity is questionable, making linguistic, contextual and historical analyzes within the framework of presuppositions, expanding or narrowing the meaning of the verses with subjective inferences." The most frequently used evidence by both Sunni and Imami scholars to legitimize their sectarian views on raj'ah with the Quran was the method of tafsir of the Quran with the Quran. However, scholars of both sects made serious methodological mistakes such as "not paying attention to the internal integrity of the verses, taking only a part of the verse, not looking at the context and context of the verses, ignoring other related verses, sometimes associating verses with each other even though they are not related to the same subject." Similar problems were observed in the method of interpreting the verse with hadith. They used hadiths of questionable authenticity as evidence and separated the hadith from its verbal and historical context. Both Imami and Sunni scholars did not see any harm in going beyond the literal meaning of the verse from time to time in order to justify themselves regarding the rec'at. In other words, when the meaning of the verse contradicts the views defended by the sect, scholars of both sects put the views of their own sects at the center and tried to adapt the verse to their own systems.
