This study deals with a comparison between the commentaries of Abu Hanifa's work called al-Fıkhü'l-ekber in order to establish the assumption that the commentary is a type of writing that goes beyond the text, rather than repeating the text. Since Abu Hanifa was one of the leading representatives of Sunni thought, his works were met with interest in Islamic thought. Among these, the work called el-Fıkhü'l-ekber is more prominent. Perhaps for this reason, al-Fiqh al-ekbar was commented on many times, especially during the Ottoman period. Our comparison is made by the commentators of the Ottoman period, İlyas b. We limited it to İbrâhîm es-Sînobi, Bahaeddinzâde, Ebü'l-Müntehâ el-Mağnisâvî and Ali el-Kârî. Since the analysis of four commentaries on all topics would exceed the size of the article, we recorded our study with certain topics in the relevant commentaries. In the article, a comparative analysis method will be followed on the mentioned commentaries on al-Fiqh al-akbar. As a result, we aim to reveal the theological backgrounds reflected in the commentaries of different authors on the same text, the value of the works in terms of the commentary tradition and the Ottoman theological tradition. We will also make some possible inferences about the encounter between theology and Sufism in the commentaries of al-Fiqh al-akbar, taking into account the biographies of the authors.
