| Notes | There is an agreement that the author of Miftâhü'l-Fünûn, which is considered the first logic book translated from Western languages into Turkish, is Pasqualle Galluppi. However, the identity of the translator has not been fully clarified to date. Mehmed Ali Aynî and Muallim Cevdet noted that the translator of Miftâhü'lFünûn was Çamiç Ohannes Efendi. This information, given without citing a source, becomes certain with the testimony of Ahmet Cevdet Pasha. Translator Çamiç Ohannes Efendi, an Ottoman citizen belonging to the Catholic Armenian community, started as a translator and rose to the rank of minister in the civil service. He is an intellectual and bureaucrat who knows Eastern and Western languages, is familiar with financial matters and has a good knowledge of logic. |
