Notes In this study, the existence strategies of traditional religious institutions and actors in the historical process, as well as the methods by which the actors maintain their traditional authority and reputation in the current situation, are emphasized. Religious actors, who frequently appear as 'seyda' in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions, have been tried to be understood within the scope of functional charisma with reference to the works of Max Weber. While Seyda, who has functional charisma, is making some attempts to maintain his existing reputation and authority with a certain dominance in his own private and limited field, it is also seen that he is trying to reach new places and followers. In this context, especially in rural areas where traditional religious arguments are felt intensely, Seydas ensure their legitimacy by coming to the fore as the presentation area of their charisma in condolences, weddings, funerals, but especially as mediators or solvers in social problems. Because Seyda has to be on the field and prove himself as a requirement of the charisma he wants to maintain in this way. Otherwise, it cannot exist due to the unstable nature of charisma. In this respect, in this study, a qualitative-hermeneutical-ethnographic study was carried out by applying a semi-structured interview form with a total of 30 seydas, and the formulations used by seydas to build their religious reputation were examined.
