Notes
The theory of prophethood, based on a competent imagination, is one of Farabi's original contributions to Islamic thought. The aim of this article is to examine the power of imagination in Fārābī's political thought, which is at the basis of the prophet's law-making. In our research, it has been concluded that the prophet's universal truths can only be stated in the form of laws with the representation ability of a competent imagination. The abundance overflowing from the different minds that make up the superlunar world also builds the sublunar world through the imagination of the prophet. In this system, the faculty of imagination is a central force that personifies and organizes the blessing coming from the Active Mind and makes it comprehensible to people at all levels. If it were not for the imagination that transforms the imaginary into sensible forms, it would not be possible for the laws to be established and delivered to people. In order to establish contact with the higher principles, the prophet must also have a competent natika power. Finally, in our study, the connection between the imagination, which represents the blessing coming from the Active Mind, and the natika force in this context is also questioned in terms of legislation.
