Notes The states and cities of Iraq witnessed the attacks of many epidemics and diseases during the Ottoman era, especially in the nineteenth century AD, due to the deterioration of the political, economic and social conditions. It was exposed to many problems such as backwardness, ignorance, poverty, famine, and poor health services, represented by the lack of medicines and doctors, the spread of folk medicine, and the lack of hygiene, in addition to natural disasters, which had a negative impact and caused many of the population to fall victim.
