شهدت ولايات ومدن العراق هجمات العديد من الأوبئة والأمراض خلال العصر العثماني، وخاصة في القرن التاسع عشر الميلادي، ويرجع ذلك إلى تدهور الأوضاع السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية؛ إذ تعرض للعديد من المشاكل مثل التخلف والجهل والفقر، والمجاعات، وسوء الخدمات الصحية، المتمثلة في قلة الأدوية والأطباء، وتفشي العلاج الشعبي فيها، وقلة النظافة، فضلاً عن الكوارث الطبيعة، مما أثر سلبياً وراح ضحية ذلك الكثير من السكان. The states and cities of Iraq witnessed attacks of many epidemics and diseases during the Ottoman era, especially in the nineteenth century, due to the deterioration of political, economic and social conditions, as it was exposed to many problems such as backwardness, ignorance, poverty, famines, and poor health services, such as a lack of medicines and doctors And the spread of folk remedies, lack of hygiene, as well as natural disasters, which negatively affected many people.
