Over the centuries, Egypt has witnessed many changes in architecture, interior design, and furniture, which were influenced by many external factors. The era of Khedive Ismail was one of the most prominent transformations in architecture, interior design, and furniture compared to the rest of the eras in Egypt’s modern history. There was no ruler before him who had the same civilizational vision and modern urban renaissance, which was based on an enlightened European vision, as he tried to restore the glory of his grandfather, Muhammad Ali Pasha, but on an advanced civilizational pattern. The Paris of the East project presented by Khedive Ismail, which fully bears the features of the Western European model, had the greatest impact on the form of the architectural visual image of Cairo, as it was overshadowed at the time by European styles. Despite the presence of the Ottoman and Mamluk styles, the European import trend spread widely and took two basic forms: the direct revival trend and the selective trend. Abdeen Palace was chosen for this study because this palace occupies a distinguished place in our history. Since its inception, it has contributed to writing the modern history of Egypt, bearing witness to more than a hundred years full of political, social, and artistic events that formed an important part of Egypt’s modern memory. It is considered one of the most palaces that included the largest number of architectural styles that came to Egypt during the nineteenth century. In this research, the Western styles that came to Egypt in that historical era will be studied by analyzing the elements of the interior design of Abdeen Palace. The study of architecture and interior design in Egypt concluded with the revival of a group of European styles such as Baroque, Renaissance, Rococo and others, and extended to include the revival of the Islamic style. They were dealt with through an analytical study of their design elements and arriving at some of the rules that constitute the styles that came to Egypt in the nineteenth century that could be used by designers later as a reference for the design identity of that period.
