Notes The journey constitutes an important document in which researchers find many of their questions, and it is considered one of the most important geographical, historical and social sources. The description of journeys is one of the most important important intellectual products. It is a literature in which the writer depicts the events that happened and the things he encountered during a trip he took to one of the countries. Some people write down their journey and record it as an enduring story through the ages, or to write down the journey, or the ruler asked the travelers to write down the journey, with the desire of the travelers themselves to benefit and educate the readers, and also to chronicle the countries, their civilizations, and their peoples. Its landmarks, customs, and traditions. In this research, I talk about two distinguished trips to the Arabian Peninsula and the Hijaz in particular, one by a Turk and the other by an Arab. Let us study the authors’ approach to their travels and make a comparison between their approaches to the trip, especially in each of them’s description of the antiquities he saw on his trip. They both have their own functional and cultural backgrounds that differ from the other, which affects their style and approach. Therefore, I relied in the research on the comparative descriptive approach, which depends on depicting the similarities and differences between the phenomena in the two trips and through the study of time and the environment. The first journey of Suleiman Shafiq bin Ali Kamali Pasha Soyilmazoglu. When he wrote the journey, he held a military position in the Ottoman army, namely Yuzbashi, in the second column of the Mobile Artillery Brigade. He then assumed the position of governor of the Asir Brigade. He made his journey on the 17th of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the year 131 AH, corresponding to September 26, 1308 in Rome. The journey is in manuscript and bears the title “Hejaz Siyahtanama Si.” The original copy is located in a university library. Istanbul, which is among the manuscripts that were originally kept in Yildiz Palace. The manuscript is written in the author’s own hand, and consists of 385 pages. The journey occupies pages from the first to page 275, and the rest of the pages bear the title “The Wahhabi doctrine and the establishment and expansion of the Najdi state, and the translation of the life of Ibn Abd al-Wahhab.” As for the second journey, it is the journey of Khair al-Din al-Zirakli (1893 - 1976 AD), the owner of the “Images” encyclopedia, and its title is “What I Saw and What I Heard", which is his first trip from Damascus to Palestine, then Egypt, and then Hejaz. It was printed for the first time in 1923. Following the “Maysaloun” incident on the morning of the day the French were entering Damascus (1920), the author left for Palestine, then Egypt, then the Hijaz. The French issued a death sentence (in absentia) and confiscated his property.
