Al-Sinak district represents a living and prominent example of the shops of old Baghdad, which maintains various residential buildings dating back to the historical period confined between the late late Ottoman rule and the beginning of the royal era in Iraq. This study was devoted to documenting heritage houses because that time period represented an actual transitional phase in aspects of public life, including political, economic, and social. Accordingly, an important conclusion can be drawn from the fact that the environment, ancient civilizations, and local experiences played a role in Iraqi architecture in general, and the house in particular. Therefore, the house’s connection remained close to the prevailing style in Iraq since ancient times and later periods. The locality of (al-Sinak) represents the living and distinctive model of the old Baghdad shops, which preserve various residential buildings, most of which date back between the late ottoman era and the beginning of the royal era. This study was devoted to documenting the heritage houses because that era represented an actual transitional stage in the aspects of public life, including political, economic and social ones. Accordingly, an important conclusion can be drawn from that the environment, ancient civilizations, and local experiences played a role in Iraqi architecture in general, and the house in particular. Therefore, the link of the house remained closely with the prevailing pattern in Iraq since antiquity and later periods.
