Notes The bilateral relations between Turkey and Afghanistan are truly exemplary, and have strong and ancient roots since the era of the Ottoman Empire. Turkey is considered the best true friend of Afghanistan. They are two close countries even in the absence of common borders between them. Afghanistan has relied entirely on Turkey as it wanted to change its situation based on Turkish assistance to it in many fields, the most important of which are the educational fields, the fields of health, medicine, and military and civil education. The Westernization experiences that occurred in Turkey in the first half of the twentieth century brought with them a series of Innovations and changes for the entire Islamic world, especially as they greatly influenced Afghanistan, which won the struggle for independence before the Republic of Türkiye. Afghanistan was also the second country to recognize the Republic of Türkiye after the Soviet Union on March 1, 1923, and the two countries established educational and cultural exchange programs after independence. Turkish schools were built inside Afghanistan, and Turkish army officers helped and ordered the training of Afghan army personnel. Afghanistan's foreign relations have changed a lot politically, socially and economically thanks to its relationship with the Republic of Türkiye, a close relationship that continues to this day.
