materia medica
, written by the Andalusian botanist Ḍiyā’ al-Dīn Abū Muḥammad ʻAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad (Dia al-Din Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Ahmad; d. 1248), known as Ibn al-Bayṭār (Ibn al-Bitar), Chief Herbalist to the Ayyubid sultan al-Malik al-Kāmil (reg. 1218-38). The text is here called the

It is a white plant with fluffy leaves, its leaves are somewhere between the leaves of wild plantain and the leaves of deer ears
However, it is smaller, and a stem emerges from its leaves in the middle, an inch or less long, with a thicker and thinner coarse
