Notes Commentary by Abū al-Qāsim ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʻAlī Ibn Abī Ṣādiq al-Nīsābūrī (Abu al-Qasim Abd al-Rahman ibn Ali ibn Abi Sadiq al-Naysaburi, d. ca 1068) on the Aphorisms (Book of Chapters) of Hippocrates (Hippocrates, d. ca 370) BC). The commentary is based on Galen of Pergamon's (Galen, d. ca 216) commentary on the Aphorisms. The copy was completed on the morning of Tuesday 3 Ramaḍān 1094/26 August 1683, the 28th year of the reign of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb (reg. 1658-1707), in the takīyah of Shah Sayyid Aḥmad at Burhanpur by Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qādir Qurashī (Sheikh Abdul Qadir Qurashī, see colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. , f. 177r, lines 6-8, transcribed below). The text is followed by a brief note by a later hand and an incomplete horoscope diagram (f. 177v). Begins (f. 2v, lines 1-4): ...Abdul Rahman bin Ali said Ibn Abi Sadiq, mercy (!) After praising God Almighty with all his praises and blessings be upon him His Messenger, Muhammad, and his family. Providence inspires people to acquire a branch of science One of the most honorable human virtues, especially among all people... Ends (f. 177r, lines 2-5): ...As for the important chapters that are often mentioned At the end of the book, we mentioned it out of pity for what was missed Time is useless, and God Almighty is safe and sound We are sufficient, and He is the best disposer of affairs Colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text.
