Notes An abridged copy of a technical treatise on archery, partly in verse, by Taybughā al-Ashrafī al-Baklamishī al-Yūnānī (Taybgha al-Ashrafī al-Baklamishī al-Yūnānī, d. c. 1394, see f. 2, lines 3-5, and f.33v, lines 10-11). The title of the work is given at the end of the introduction (f. 11v, line 11). This undated copy was transcribed by Muḥammad al-Umlayṭī al-Azharī (see f. 223r, line 7, transcribed below). The text was probably written during the Mamluk Sultan al-Ashraf Shaʻban (reg. 1363-77). The present copy claims the text was written in 770/1368-9 (f. 34r, line 7) and describes it as 'number 247 in the dīwān ' (f. 34r, lines 1-2), although these segments of text do not appear in older copies. Contents: Preface and introduction, discussing prophetic sayings relating to archery (ff. 2v-12r); Ghināyat al-murāmī wa-ghāyat al-mighrām lil-muʻān (Ghanaya al-Marami and Ghayaya al-Maghram al-Ma'an), a treatise on archery in the form of a 149-verse qasīdah in rajaz meters (ff. 12r-34r, title at f. 15v, lines 1-2); Chapter two: A technical commentary on the preceding verses, consisting of detailed descriptions of equipment, techniques, and actions relating to archery, including mounted archery, physiology of the archer, and history and theory of archery (ff. 34r-146v); Section on miscellaneous subjects relating to archery (وما بعد ذلك من الأبيات..., ff. 146v-223r). Begins (f. 2v, lines 2-5): Praise be to Allah, the just wisdom, the comprehensive knowledge, the Almighty Sultana al-Bahr is an excuse Qami' al-Kafir and Mubdra and the place is based on the location عليه أمره. Ends (f. 222v, line 11- f. 223r, line 3): ...Then To Shams al-Din Mohammed then to al-Shahabi Shahab Al-Din Ahmad ibn al-Marhum Khatamt al-Muharrin al-Ma'roof Between Ramah and Abi Shama (may Allaah have mercy on him). Colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. (f. 223r, lines 4-10): The Holy Book is in his hands أفقر خلقه وأحجهم To the forgiveness of your Lord and forgiveness Mohammed Al-Amlaiti Al-Azhari Forgive Allah for him ولمن دعا له By the Forgiver, the Mercy and the Muslims gathered
