Elegant copy of a collection of traditions from Bukhārī and Muslim, with traditions from the Kitāb al-Shihāb by al-Quḍāʻī (d. 454/1062) and from the Kitāb al-Najm by al-Uqlīshī (d. 550/1155) (GAL). | Ms. codex., Title from preamble of text (fol. 5b, two last lines)., Marginal and interlinear annotations. Several inscriptions on fol. Ia, including verses of poetry in Persian on simple and composed ignorance. Note on fol. 1a, mentioning the number of leaves (282) and of quires (28) in the volume., Collation: Paper ; fol. i + 274 + iii ; catchwords ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals., Layout: 15 lines per page ; frame-ruled in gold and black ; folios 6b-37b frame-ruled in gold, black and red., Description: Written in small script in black ink with use of red for headings and entries., Decoration: Illuminated headpiece in blue, red and gold. Opening pages frame-ruled in gold, black and blue (fol. 1b-2a). Gold-stamped with a central oblong piece, outlined in gold extending to three-lobed lotus pendants on the vertical axis. The outer border consists of a guilloche outlined in gold with a small rosace in the inner corners. Paper pastedowns. Endbands.
