Notes
Also incorrect, as probably a copy of Chambers 58.5 (?). — paper — The Śikṣā Pāṇinīya, a phonetic treatise in verse form, written before 500 BC. BC
(Source: BnF). Originally came in two forms: sūtra and śloka; now in five reviews:
Agnipurāṇa review (21 stanzas), Pañjikā review (23 stanzas), Prakāśa review
(22 verses), Yajus review (32 verses) and Ṛk review (60 verses) (Source:
NCC 12, 16a). Here in the Ṛk review with 60 śloka, spread over 11 kaṇḍikā. According to Pāṇini's process
from the letters, accents, etc.; sometimes attributed directly to Pāṇini. Verses 56-59 refer to the legend of the naming of the Śivasūtra, which verse 60 contains
the promises for the readers of this work.
