London Polyglot Bible ed. by Brian Walton. The t. I-III contain the A.T. (Pentateuch, Joshua-Esther, Job-Malachi) with the following texts: Hebrew with a translation. interlinear Latin (translation of Sante Pagnino revised by Benito Arias Montano), Vulgate, Septuagint, Aramaic targum, Syriac and Arabic paraphrases (these last 4 texts are each accompanied by a Latin translation). The Hebrew-Samaritan text and the Samaritan version with a translation were added to the Pentateuch. Latin for both. The t. IV contains the Apocrypha and the "Triplex Targum, sive versio Pentateuchi: I. Chaldaica Jonathani ben-Uziel ascripta. II. Chaldaica Hierosolymitana. III. Persica Jacobi Tawusi. Cum versionibus singularum latinis" (= Targum I and Targum II of Jerusalem and version in Persian by Jacob ben Joseph Tawûs). The t. V contains the NT with the Greek text (ed. by Robert Estienne) with a translation. interlinear Latin due to B. Arias Montano, the Vulgate, the Syriac, Arabic and Ethiopian texts each accompanied by a translation. Latin. The t. VI contains the critical apparatus. Some exes. have a dedication to Charles II, impr. on 2 ff. sig. A, and present a change of text in the preface which takes into account the restoration of the Stuarts (May 29, 1660). Portrait of B.
