Notes
Yûsuf-ı Hakîkî's annotation to his father Hamîdüddin-i Aksarayî's (d. 815/1412) work titled Şerhu Hadîsi Erba'în Şerhu Erba'îne Hadîsen. Somuncu Baba's forty hadith compilation and commentary is a work in which forty hadiths are brought together and briefly commented in Arabic. After each hadith, a concise commentary was written under the title "Share". Yûsuf-ı Hakîkî also expanded his father's work by commenting on it; He wrote an annotation for her. The copy of Şerhu Erba'îne Hadîsen Annotation, copied in 969/1561-62, is located in Süleymaniye Library Esad Efendi Collection number 11441/3. It is 23 sheets. The copy recorded in the National Library 06 Mil Yz A 7479/3, attributed to Yûsuf-ı Hakîkî, is a copy of Hamîdüddin-i Aksarayî's work. Forty hadiths and shares are written in the annotation as in the source. Shares are annotated under the title "Şerhu'l-Hisse". The phrases in the parts are explained section by section with the expression "Kavlühû" in accordance with the hashiye style. Hakîkî frequently used verse quotations in his commentary and sometimes used verses. Yûsuf-ı Hakîkî took care to explain religious concepts in his annotation. For example, in the commentary of the second hadith, Hamîdüddin-i Aksarayî explained the concept of polytheism in the hadith with the concepts of ash-shirku'l-jali and ash-shirku'l-hafî; Yûsuf-ı Hakîkî also defined and explained these concepts. Yûsuf-ı Hakîkî's explanations generally reflect a Sufi understanding. For example, the hadith in the nineteenth place, "Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah also loves to meet him..." was narrated by Hamîdüddin-i Aksarayî, Hz. He evaluated it as the Prophet preparing his ummah for death; Hakîkî interpreted this death as a voluntary death before natural death. For the biography of the commentator, see.
