Notes A prose treatise in which the author examines the issue of existence, which is one of the problems of Sufism, theology and philosophy. Another naming of the work written in Arabic, which can be translated as "Treatise on the Investigation of the Existence of the Necessary", is Risâle fî Tahkîk-i Vücûd-i Mebde'i'l-Evvel (Treatise on the Investigation of the Existence of the First Being). The influence of Ibn Sina is seen in this treatise, which the author devotes to the proof of the necessary existence. At the beginning of his work, he states that the theologians and philosophers do not fully understand Ibn Sina and that is why they object. The reason for writing the treatise was "...my devotion to my past led me to realize the truth and verify the truth." says. He quotes from the works of Ibn Sina, whom he describes as "Reisü'l-Hükemâ" (the leader of philosophers), named Mübahasât, Şifave İşârâ. In his work, the author divides existence into two as vacibü'l-vücûd (necessary existence) and mümkinü'l-vücûd (possible existence). The proof of necessary existence is based on the distinction between existence and essence. He says that there cannot be a distinction between existence and quiddity in necessary beings, and that in the absence of this distinction, one can talk about the essence of the necessary being, not its essence. The author accepts the distinction between existence and quiddity in possible beings. In possible beings, existence is incidental to the essence. Because possible existence needs a cause to create it. This reason comes from outside. In this case, the existence of the entity that will cause it must be from itself. This is the necessary existence that does not have a cause apart from itself. Molla Lütfi says in his work that general existence is a necessity of necessary existence. However, necessary existence does not need general existence. Because there is no reason for necessary existence, there is no reason for its existence in a special sense, that is, its descent. This approach of his was also mentioned before in Ibn Sina and his commentator Nasireddin Tûsî. The treatise can be found in Süleymaniye Library, Yenicami, no. One copy is recorded in 1181/30 and one in Leiden Universiteitsbibliothek, Or., 958 (5). For the biography of the author, see. “Mollâ Lütfî, Sarı Lutfî, Deli Lütfî, Maktûl Lütfî, Lütfullâh”.
