Notes Neccâr-zâde Mustafa Rıza Efendi (b. 1090/1679-1680 - d. 1159/1746), one of the Nakşbendî-Mujaddidî sheikhs of the Ottoman period and buried in the tomb built in his name next to the Sinan Pasha Mosque in Istanbul/Beşiktaş, wrote in Arabic on the subjects of faith, deeds and morals. risale. The name of the work is as-Risâle fî Beyâni'l-İ'tikad ve'l-Amel ve'l-Ahlâk in the record in the Süleymaniye Library Laleli Collection (No: 3749/4). The same work can be found in some other libraries such as Risâle-i Neccâr-zâde (Kütahya Vahitpaşa Library, No: 1785), Kitâb-ı Neccâr-zâde (Kütahya Vahitpaşa Library, No: 3063/4) or Risâle Tete'alleku bi-Biyâni'l-i'tikâdât ve'l-Ahlâk. It is seen that it was recorded under the names ve'l-Amel (Istanbul Millet Library, Ali Emiri-Arabi, No: 1185/2). When the copies are examined, in the introduction of the work, Neccâr-zâde Mustafa Rıza Efendi states that he wrote this treatise upon the request of his disciples and friends. In the introduction, where the content of the work is mentioned, the phrase "hazihi risâletün tete'alleku bi-biyâni'l-i'tikâdât ve'l-ahlâk ve'l-'a'mâl" (Neccâr-zâde Mustafa Rızâ [yz]:29a) is included, but the moral part mentioned in the third place is replaced by the deeds part. It is seen that the organization of the work is carried out in three sections: belief/i'tikadât, deeds/deeds and morality. In the first part, the literal meaning of faith is explained. Then, it is stated that faith is evaluated in three parts in terms of the term meaning: confirmed, inferred and imitative faith. Later, some theological issues are explained briefly (Neccâr-zâde Mustafa Rızâ [yz]:29a-30b). In the second part, the subject of Sharia provisions and their evidence is mentioned and fard, haram and makruh are defined and explained briefly (Neccâr-zâde Mustafa Rızâ [yz]:31a-32a). In the third part, morality is defined and praised (hamide) and blamed (zemîme) moral behaviors are mentioned. It is pointed out that praised moral behaviors will lead people to salvation, and condemned moral behaviors will lead to destruction. Finally, brief information is given about the moral characteristics that are praised and criticized (Neccâr-zâde Mustafa Rızâ [yz]:32a-35a). There are many manuscript copies of er-Risâle fî Beyâni'l-İ'tikad ve'l-Amel ve'l-Ahlâk in the library records. Halil İbrahim Şimşek gave brief information about this work in his article about the author's life, works and Sufi views (2005: 166).
