Notes
This work, written by the Celveti Sufi Aksaraylı Seyyid Hasan Rızâyî, was written as a manifestation of the deep and sincere love felt for Aziz Mahmûd Hüdâyî and was gifted to all Celveti Sufis by him. The work, which has the identity of Menâkıb-nâme, was written in Arabic. There is no information in biographical and bibliographic sources about the work that was the subject of my master's thesis and translated (Çağırıcı 2006). Only one copy of the work has been identified so far. It is located between pages 177a-198b in the Rızâyî collection at number 66 in the İbrahim Hakkı Konyalı Library. As far as we understand from the translation, there are also Turkish poems in the work. It is stated that it is an author's line, and considering the author's statements, it is understood that it was completed after 1063/1652. Rızâyî mentions Mahmûdiyye in his work titled Tezkiretü's-Sâlikîna (22a) and says that he presented it to Hüdâyî's grandson Şeyh Mes'ûd Efendi through Zâkir Mahmûd Efendi. The mentioned visit and presentation is also described in Mahmûdiyye. (Çağırıcı 2006: 39-42/65/79/81; Cankurt 2014: 109/111; Cankurt 2015: 130; Cankurt 2021: 173) The author begins his work by praying to Ibrahim I, the sultan of the period. The poet, who says that he recorded the names of the scholars, judges, veterans, saints and saints he met or encountered in his hometown Aksaray, says that mentioning the important figures he saw in other towns and mentioning their names in his works is a spiritual debt or a sign of loyalty. He served as judge and served on various occasions in Istanbul, Aksaray, Koçhisar, Denizli, Aydın, Nazilli, Tire, Hama, Humus, Sermin, Halep, Antep, Diyarbakır, Amasya, Zile, Niksar, Kars, Çorum, Kırşehir, Niğde-Bor, Kayseri, Karaman (Larende), Konya-Ereğli, Antalya, Ankara-Ayaş, The author, who includes in his work the religious, mystical and political figures he met in various regions such as Konya-Akşehir, Afyon, Malatya and Sivas, lists the dialogues he had with the people he mentioned and some anecdotes. Since he is at the center of the narratives, the work has the characteristics of autobiography and memoir, but it also has a historical identity as it provides data about the social and political life of the period. (Çağırıcı 2006: 39-42; Cankurt 2014: 110-119; Cankurt 2015: 131-139)For the poet's biography, see. “Rızâî, Hasan Rızâî-i Aksarâyî”.Turkish Literature Names Dictionary.
