Notes The section in which the Karaboğdan Expedition in 1538 is described in the work titled Tabakâtü'l-Memâlik-ve-Derecâtü'l-Mesâlik by Celâl-zâde Mustafa Çelebi, the eldest son of Tosyalı Kadı Celâleddin and one of the Ottoman bureaucrats known by the nickname Koca Nişancı. The work in question, which served as a source for subsequent historical studies, covers the events that took place during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent until 1555. The work was written with the idea that writing the geography and history of the Ottoman Empire is a great responsibility towards future generations. Tabakâtü'l-Memâlik-ve-Derecâtü'l-Mesâlik is arranged on thirty layers and three hundred seventy-five degrees. The work also includes an index in accordance with the scheme of the memâlik and mesâlik books. Fetih-nâme-i Karaboğdan is an important history book that contains very important information about the Ottoman army and its functioning, especially due to the fact that it contains verbal descriptions of the divan and parades held during the campaign and the bureaucrat identity of Celâl-zâde Mustafa Çelebi. It is in the index at the beginning of Tabakâtü'l Memâlik. It was claimed that the volume mentioned, containing twenty-nine layers, was not seen until recently (Kumru 2014: 208). However, in recent studies on the work, it has been determined that there are seventeen copies of Tabakâtü'l-Memâlik that fit together as a whole and five incomplete copies consisting of various parts of them. Fetihnâme-i Karaboğdan is located in the Central Library of Istanbul University, which was the basis for the text publication for Tabakât. There are two copies of the work in the Hagia Sophia Collection of the Süleymaniye Library and the Esat Efendi Collection (Afyoncu 2003: 128, Demirtaş 2009: (2009), the exact edition was published by Petra Kappert (1981).
