Notes	A poetic work written by Sâdıkî-i Kitâbdâr, who was also a miniaturist, about miniaturism. Kânûnu's-Suver consists of the following headings: Sebeb-i nazm-ı în risâle [the reason for writing this treatise], nasîhat-i ferzend [advice to the child/student], der-san'at-ı nakkaşî ve besten-i kale-i mûy [about the art of painting and brush binding], der-giriften-i kale [about holding a brush], der-reng-âmizî [mixing of colors], der-sıfat-ı şüstimân [şüstümân: a kind of polish (Porter 2000: 117)], der-hall-i tılâ ve nukre [gold and silver solutions], ta'rîf-i sûretgerî [about portrait art], der-sıfat-ı cânver-sâzî [animal drawing], der-beyân-ı reng ü rûğan [about oil painting], tarîk-ı reng-i cesmî [about solid (= opaque) color], der-âdâb-ı nukre-pûş [silver plating], der-kâ'ide-i reng-i zengâr [making oxide color], reviş-i renghâ-yı serîşümî, der-sâhten-i sefîd-âb u Sürec [making white lead and lead oxide], der-zengâr sâhten [about oxidation], der-şencerf puhten [Chinese red], der-sâhten-i la'lî [ruby red], der-puhten-i rûğan-ı kemân [rûgan-ı kemân: a type of varnish used in lacquer painting (Porter 2000: 117)].
