Notes
It is the third Divan of the Külliyât of Sultan Ahmed, the fourth ruler of the state known in history as Ilkanids or Celayirs (Âştiyânî 1376: 455). Sultan Ahmed, who was known for his poetry as well as his reign and wrote poems in three languages, was also known for his calligraphy and illumination, and it was said by sources that he was knowledgeable in the science of nucum (Devletşâh 1338: 229; Terbiyyet yty: 30; Herevî 1345: 63-65; Sümer 1989: 54; Armutlu 1990: 19).Kitâbu'ş-Şarkiyyât (56b-117a) has 1274 couplets. Of the 300 poems in the Dîvân, 1 ode, 1 musammat, 135 ghazals, 4 mesnevi, 40 rubaî, 49 stanzas and 70 poems. is the curriculum. The text begins with a tawhid and na't, each of which is 5 couplets. The only ode in the Dîvân is 17 couplets. This ode is a parallel to the famous ode of the Persian poet Rûdekî-yi Semerkandî (d. 329/941) with the rhyme "âyet hemî" (Rûdekî-yi Semerkandî 1382: 43). The only musammat 6 in Kitâbu'ş-Şarkiyyâti. The 135 ghazals in the work mostly consist of 5, 7 and 9 couplets. 28 of these ghazals are given under the title "Gazeliyyât-ı Mevkûfe". Their number of couplets varies between 2 and 4. In the ghazals, the name Ahmed was generally used as a pseudonym, as well as Ahmed ibn Üveys and Ahmed bin Şeyh Üveys, albeit rarely. One of the 4 masnavis under the title of "Masneviyât" has 50 couplets and the other has 4 couplets. The other 2 mesnevi are na't, one has 14 couplets and the other has 32 couplets. The verses in Kitâbu'ş-Şarkiyyât are mostly 2 couplets. The two stanzas in the work, the 169th and 170th verses, were sung in praise of the famous Turkish musician Abdulkâdir Meragî. Sadık Armutlu wrote his doctoral thesis on the work (1990). For the poet's biography, see.
