Notes
The volume contains 199 folios, with 3 preliminary leaves and 4 blank back leaves, all of later paper, as is folio 1 which is blank except for the aphorism: هذا كتاب لويباع بوزنه دهباً لكان البايع المغبون Even if this volume were sold for its weight in gold, the seller would have been cheated A small piece of paper removed at the time of rebinding is pasted onto folio 1, bearing a Latin note to the effect that it contains the commentary by Ibn al-Nafis (Ibn Naphîs Al Korashi) on the Hippocratic treatise on aphorisms.

In the name of God... The Sheikh, Imam, the scholar, the only scholar and the only one of his time, Ali bin Abi Al-Hazm [not dictionary], Al-Qurashi, known as Ibn Al-Nafis, said: Every time has an article, and the distinguished Galen explained the book of chapters by the master of this art, Hippocrates, in an explanation that revealed its secrets and shed its light on those who seek this art, but he relied on the insight of the workers of his time in apparent areas, so he intended it to be brief, and especially to clarify the arrangement of each chapter in its place and its suitability to what He is celebrated by the cleverness of some of those who came after him, and it was difficult for him to understand that this was due to his lack of order, to the point where he went so far as to be so pedantic and said that he had no control and a lot of confusion, so I wanted to write about it from topics that demonstrated his virtues and raised his praises, and I ask God for help in that and I ask my knowledgeable friends not to rush into what I disagreed with that is known for its shortcomings and falsehoods without reviewing and contemplating free of bad thoughts about the time and its people, so consideration is given to what he said, not to whom he said. It is customary for commentators to open their books of explanations with elaborations praising that industry and the book that explains it, and I decided not to waste time on it. The first article from the Book of Chapters by Hippocrates. Hippocrates said: Life is short, industry is long, time is short, and experience is dangerous... Explanation: Lifetime is the period of time that the soul remains in control of the body, and it is the duration of life. Industry is a psychological faculty with which one is able to use it.
