Collection of ḥadīth, a supplement to al-Jāmiʻ al-ṣaghīr by the author. | Ms. codex., Title from title page (fol. 1a)., 21 to 22 lines per page. Written in small medium naskh in black ink with use of red. Collation on the margin. Catchword on the verso of each leaf. Indication of the abbreviations (rumūz) used in the text on fol. 1a. Mention of the dates of birth and death of the author (849-911) on fol. 298a. Worm eaten. Particularly fragile., Copy completed by Yūsuf ibn ʻAbd Allāh al-Ḥusaynī al-Armayūnī, the author's pupil ("tilmīdh al-muʼallif") on 5 Jumādá al-Ākhirah 913 [October 12, 1507] (colophon, fol. 298a)., Incipit: This is an appendix to my book called Al-Jami’ Al-Saghir, from the hadith of Al-Bashir Al-Nazir. I called it the increase of Al-Jami’, and its symbols are like his symbols, and the arrangement is like the arrangement, and my success is only with God... The letter hamza will come on the Day of Resurrection, and the door of Paradise will be opened for me, my Lord. Explicit: Ease is right and hardship is something that escaped from another man. The book | Golden brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Both covers are similarly blind-tooled with a central mandorla and an outer frame consisting of single fillets surrounding a s-shape running pattern. The envelope flap has a similar outer frame with a circular stamp on its point. | Two ownership statements on fol. 1a, one signed Muḥammad ibn ʻAlī ibn Marḥwān(?), dated 1 Rabīʻ al-Thānī 1020 [June 13, 1611], the other signed ʻUmar, dated 27 Rabīʻ al-Thānī 1339 [January 8, 1921].
