Notes with indistinct watermark (European)؛ [Chivizāde Muḥyīddīn Meḥmed b. Ilyās, d. 954/1547, Sheykhülislam, in office 1539-1542]. Trimmed; heavy beige paper; no border or other decoration; catchwords; rare marginalia (corrections). f. 1a: fetāvā of Ebū ’1-Su'ūd. f. 151b: 2 anecdotes, one signed by el-vā‘iẓ el-Sheykh Meḥmed el-Ṣarukhānī, dated 1155/beg. 8 March 1742; 4 short notes, two of them concerning two chief eunuchs of the imperial harem. Collection of fetāvā by Sa‘dī [Chelebi] (= Sa‘dullāh) b. ‘Isā b. Amīr Khān (d. 1538/9) compiled by his student Seyyid Aḥmed b. Muṣṭafā called Bilālī in 940/beg. 23 July 1533, when Sa'dī became mufti. To the draft he added fetāvā of some former muftis. Later, in 946/beg. 19 May 1539, when Chivizāde became chief mufti, the author was permitted by him to include texts of his fetāvā f. 2a—b is devoted to the fihrist which announces 4 bāb for the book. The topics treated in the 4 bāb are: 1. religious dulies; 2. religious practices, prayer, vaqf; 3. marriage; 4. inheritance. In most cases the source of the fetāvā is stated after the answer: Sa’dī Chelebi, Chivizāde, Aḥmed b. Kemā1, Meḥmed Fenārī, Qādirī Chelebi are mentioned mort frequently. No parallel copy was located.
