- About publishing “A Collection of Arab Poetry”: Saeed Ammon Al-Lebanese. It was published with an additional introduction (Bulaq, year 1308 AH, 195 + 4 pages). It was printed by the Charity Press (Cairo 1331 AH = 1913 AD, 384 pages) and by the Rahmaniyah Press (Cairo 1926, 388 pages). It was printed under the title “Nail al-Arb fi al-Arab’s Poems” and it included the forty-nine Mu’allaqat (Mu’allaqat al-Ra’i al-‘Aam - Misr. D.T., 121 pages). See: (Dictionary of Arabic Publications, p. 313), (Iktāfa al-Qanū’, pp. 30, 331), (Arabic books published in the United Arab Republic - Egypt between the years 1926 - 1940, p. 190, No. 421/8). He is Abu Zaid Muhammad bin Abi Al-Khattab Al-Qurashi. One of the most famous writers. His news, and the news of his “community” in: (Khedive Index, 4: 224), (Idah Al-Maknoon, 1: 368), (Hidayat Al-Arifin, 2: 8), (Dictionary of Authors, 9: 281), (Brockelmann, The 1: 38). Arabic Manuscripts in the Princeton University Library 5.
On the title page, there are a number of verses in which someone praises the book, the first of which is: This book is a comprehensive collection of literature. This copy of the manuscript was part of a collection that included: “The Diwan of Al-Kumait,” and poems by the poets: Dabal Al-Khuza’i, Tarfa ibn Al-Abd, Antara ibn Shaddad Al-Absi, “Al-Durra Al-Yatima” by Al-Akouk, and poetry by Abu Talib, so all of them were removed from the collection, and this “collection” remained. An illustrated copy of a handwritten copy in the Egyptian House of Books (in the Egyptian House of Books, another copy, (No. 16777 G), and another (No. 584 Adab). See (Index of Manuscripts, 1: 222). In the library of the Iraqi Museum in Baghdad, an antique copy, written on 24 Jumada al-Ula in the year 827 AH (= 1435 AD), (No. 1108, 352 pp., 15 x 25 x 16 cm. See: (Arabic Manuscripts in the Library of the Iraqi Museum, Baghdad, 2: 8, serial 38)) in Cairo (No.: 1842, Publication 411356, copy in the Library of the Holy Mosque in Mecca, written by Usad, year 1071 AH (No. 28/Adab), 156 BC, and it contains some additions to my edition). Cairo 1926, and Beirut 1963. See: “The Institute’s Journal” (23 [1977] p. 42; serial 390: among the manuscripts photographed by the Institute’s mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).
Sample Text
Basmala..., this is the book of the mass [poetry] of the Arabs in pre-Islamic times and Islam, in whose tongues the Qur’an was revealed, Arabic was derived from their words, evidence for the meanings of hadith was taken from their poetry, and wisdom and etiquette were attributed to them. Written by Abu Zaid Muhammad bin Abi Al-Khattab Al-Qurashi,... So we took from their poetry, since they were originally deceived, which are the eyes of their poetry and the reins of their collections. We mention in this book of ours what was reported in the transmitted narrations and the poetry preserved from them, and what their words were consistent with in the Qur’an, and what was narrated on the authority of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, in poetry and poets, and what was preserved from the jinn. My success is only in God, in Him I trust and to Him I turn. This is what Al-Mufaddal bin Muhammad Al-Dhabi told us about
