Praise be to God, who gives credit to whomever He wills... Faith is the plural of oath, which is strength in language. God Almighty said [We would have taken from him by oath]. Then it was transferred to the meaning of oath because there is a meaning of strength in it, for the swearer is strengthened by the oath to abandon what a reason calls for him to do.
