Notes
There are comments in the margins of the text, and the titles are distinguished by their large size. It was accepted and corrected from Ibn al-Qallas’s handwriting. The book “Al-Muwathd fi Al-Ansab” is attributed, according to what Haji Khalifa mentioned in “Al-Kashf” and Ismail Pasha in “The Gift of the Knowing” to Al-Jurjani Al-Nasabah, but Ismail Pasha meant another Jurjani, Muhammad bin Yusuf bin Al-Junaid Al-Jurjani Al-Nasabah, Abu Zar’ah, who died in the year 390 AH, and they both have a book “Al-Muwathd fi Al-Ansab”, translated by Al-Dhahabi in his biography and Al-Suyuti in “Tabaqat Al-Huffaz” and they did not attribute to him. This book. There is in “Al-A’lam” Abu Al-Hasan Ali bin Abdul Aziz, who died in the year 366 AH, a Shafi’i jurist who wrote the book “Diwan Al-Jurjani,” as mentioned in “Kashf Al-Zunun,” and this is different from what Al-Dhahabi confirmed in Al-Siyar. There is Abu Al-Hasan Ali bin Abdul Aziz, another Jurjani Shafi’i who died in the year 392 AH. He wrote a book on agency and a book on mediation between Al-Mutanabbi and his opponents. Taj al-Din al-Subki translated his books on Tabaqat, but he did not mention his book al-Muwathq. Ibn Abd al-Barr translated it in “Al-Isti’ab,” as Haji Khalifa mentioned, and made him Abu Al-Hasan Ali bin Abd al-Aziz bin Ali bin Al-Hasan, but Al-Dhahabi in “The History of Islam,” vol. 27, p. 273, changed it and made him Al-Hasan bin Ali instead of Ali bin Al-Hasan, quoting Hamza Al-Sahmi, the author of “The History of Gurjan,” and it is also like that with him. In “Al-Wafi bi al-Wafiyat” by Al-Safadi, a translation of it, vol. 4, p. 434. Many or most of these translators attribute a great deal of history to it, perhaps it is the same as the book of authenticators. Ibn Abd al-Barr quoted him several times in his interpretation and described him as al-Jurjani al-Nasabah. It is no wonder that Ibn Abd al-Barr’s students quoted him or refined his words and then mentioned him.
