Notes The author is Sheikh Imam Zahid (this is how Al-Hafiz Al-Diyaa described him in Tabaqat Al-Sama’a at the end of the part as follows, and I have not found a translation of it now, and Professor Yusuf Al-Ash thought that the author of the part was Al-Diaa himself [see his “index” pp. 268-269]). From the seventh century. As for the translation of Sheikh Al-Imad, he is Abu Ishaq Ibrahim bin Abd al-Wahid al-Maqdisi, brother of al-Hafiz Abd al-Ghani (543-614), as indicated by what was stated in his translation. He is not Abu Omar al-Imad al-Zahid Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Qudamah al-Maqdisi, brother of al-Muwaffaq bin Qudamah, as is led to mind from browsing some pages of the translation, due to the large number of mentions in it of al-Muwaffaq with the translator, for several reasons: First: that the translator himself once mentioned Abu Omar. Al-Imad was merciful to him (Q. 91/2), and he mentioned him again (Q. 92/1) and a third time (Q. 94/2). Secondly: The author said (93/2): One day I saw him mentioning the hadith in the place of Al-Izz, his nephew, may God have mercy on them, in the mosque, and this Al-Izz is Muhammad Ibn Al-Hafiz Ibn Abdul-Ghani Al-Maqdisi, so the translator is his uncle. Third: He also said (94/1): “When our Sheikh Muwafaq al-Din came to pray in congregation, Sheikh Al-Imad would stand up to him, shake his hand, kiss his hand, raise his shoes, and sit in front of him.” If this pillar had been Al-Muwaffaq’s brother, he would have been more deserving of being glorified and kissed because he was older than him, and Al-Muwaffaq would have said about him: “He is our sheikh, our teacher, and he has been good to us...” This is a piece of the book. The last folio was in the collection (95) (folio 266), so I transferred it from him to this collection, and it is the one that introduced us to the author and compiler of the part, and this author’s name appeared elsewhere in the volume in a story of his with the translator (folio 89/2).
