Notes
The Mansouri book means the Mansouri book of medicine by Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Zakaria al-Razi, who died in the year 320 AH. Ahmed bin Milad mentioned in his History of Tunisian Arab Medicine that Ibn al-Hasha composed this dictionary on the orders of the Hafsid prince Abu Zakaria Yahya bin Abi Muhammad, whose rule extended from 825-847 AH/1421-1443 AD. The author of this dictionary followed a recommended method. He proceeded to explain each term in terms of its original linguistic meaning - if it exists - and then mention its conventional meaning among doctors and herbalists, and often mention its counterpart among the people of Morocco. This book was published in Paris by G.S. Colin and H.P.J. Renaud with French translation. There are copies of the book in (the National Library of Tunis No. 18006, Leiden Library 331/5, Rabat Public Library 2737 (955)).
