Date 650 AH/1252 AD; The book is one of the manuscripts of the seventh century AH. Its completion fell on the last ten days of the month of Jumada al-Akhirah on Wednesday, the twenty-seventh of it.
Notes The author mentioned that this book replaces the need for carrying large books because he has mentioned all the medical methods that you need for all eye diseases, and their treatments, along with mentioning the evidence, causes, and treatment for all diseases with similar parts, including the mechanism... The author divided his book into three articles: 1 - The first article: The border of the eye and its anatomy, the number of its moisture, layers, nerves, and muscles, and the benefit of the plant of each layer from its beginning to its end, and where is its position in the eye? What is its benefit? Where does its food come from? Why was it prepared? It consists of twenty-one chapters. 2 - The second article: A number of eye diseases that are visible to the senses, their causes, signs, and treatment, which is seventy-three chapters. 2 - The third article: Eye diseases hidden from the senses, their causes, signs, mention of their treatments, and explanation of their medications. It is thirty-seven chapters. The author mentioned that he was kind enough to compose this book from many books with small additions of his own, and he benefited from the books of Galen, Dioscorides, Hunayn ibn Ishaq, and many others. On the first page of the book is a translation by Ali bin Issa al-Kahhal, written by Muhammad Hamdi al-Aswani, who copied it from the book Uyun al-Anba fi Tabaqat al-Tibābī, by Ibn Abi Usābī’ah. The Zahiriyya Library owns a second copy, numbered 4532, but the first is packed and ends with the end of the second article. Dr. Hamarneh mentioned it in his index, p. 259, 17th edition, and this copy of ours is complete and older than the second copy, which was written in the year 663 AH. Tadhkirat al-Kahhalin was printed with a Latin translation under the care of Professor Hale in Dresden in the year 1854 AD. See the Dictionary of Arabic and Arabized Publications by Yusuf Elian Sarkis 1356.
Sample Text In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: Ali bin Isa’s letter in response to what some of his brothers asked him regarding knowledge of eye diseases and their treatments. Your book has arrived, dear brother, may God protect you with His compassion and guide you to the right path with His mercy. You ask about the properties of the books of the venerable Galen on eye diseases and the treatment of each of them, because the Alexandrians mentioned diseases but did not mention their cures. I thought - may God make you happy - that I would write a book for you in which I would mention everything you asked about briefly and concisely... and I would make it three articles, and I would call it the eyeliner’s reminder because I explained in it everything that the eyeliner needs in Eye diseases and treatment of each disease
