The fundamental principle (asl) related to the commandments in the Qur'an and the Sunnah is that they indicate an obligation (wujub) unless there is some evidence that indicates that it is recommended (mustahab) rather than what is permissible (muba). Asl referring to prohibitions indicates prohibition (tahrim) unless there is evidence to indicate that it is hated (makruh). The asl that governs speech (kalam) is such that it should be taken into account in the literal sense (hakika) The asl (fundamental principle) concerning commands in the Book and the Sunnah is that they are indicative of a wujoob (obligation), except if there isan evidence to indicate to it being mustahabb (recommended) of mubaah (permissible) The asl concerning prohibitions is that they are indicative oftahreem (forbiddance), except if there is an evidence indicating it being makrooh (hated). The aslgoverning kalaam (speech) is that it is to be taken upon itshaqeeqah (literal sense) |
