Notes Digitization carried out from a substitution document: R 7808. The title of this novel, which is written in prose, is indicated in the manuscript's subscription in an incorrect form. The author of this story is a follower of the religion of Zoroaster who had no literary pretensions. He introduced into the framework of his story the names of Zacharias and Saint John, according to the Iranian-Jewish syncretism which consists of mixing facts and episodes from the annals of Persia and the Jewish people. All the titles which should have been written in red ink were omitted by the copyist, who visibly reproduced the text of an incomplete manuscript from its beginning. Incipit (f. 1v°): بروداد به بانون بی تاب کشت چندان که دایه آوردند علاج Explicit (f. 197): تم الکتاب داستان رستم زال زر بعون الله On the sheet 1, a stamp dated 1113 AH/1701; a mention of possession in the name of a certain Mīr Niʿmat-Allāh al-Ḥusaynī al-H̱urasānī. Another inscription of a name and a stamp which have been crossed out. At the top, in the middle of the page there is also part of a stamp and another inscription of possession Digitized from a substitute document: R 7808.
