Notes
الايااا Scanning from a substitute document. الايساغوجي الفلسفة Scanning performed from a substitute document. The author, Yuwākīm Muṭrān (1696-1772), is identified in the text (p. 2) by his first name and his membership in the order of Basilean monks. Contrary to what the Asiatic Society catalog states, Yuwākīm Muṭrān belonged to the Basilean Melkite order and not to the order of St Galileo the Great (which does not exist). This error comes from a misreading of the name باسيلوس in the text. Title on p. 4. P. 3, 15 and 289 (table of contents), the work is entitled Al-Īsāġūğī. Back title: Al-Falsafa Introduction to logic, presented in the prologue as being an abridgement (muḥtaṣar) composed in Aleppo in 1754 (p. 2, 3). In a warning located on p. 15-16, the author tells us that he wrote two logic texts: one of medium size (mutuwassiṭ al-ḥağm) entitled al-Iḍāḥāt al-nuṭqiyya and another of long size (mustaṭīl) to which is added this one which is an abridgement (muḫtaṣar) and which belongs to the isagogic genre This abridgement was imposed by the council of ʿAyn Ṭrāz in 1835 as a school textbook, see J. Nasrallah, op. cit, p. 252.
